Why hasn’t the Town of Belleair, Florida, posted on the notice of election candidate qualifying period and details on offices up for election? Yet sending notices out that are self-serving showing Belleair in the best possible light. Or announcements or warnings regarding the most useless information. Why would I have to find specifics on https://floridapolitics.com https://www.votepinellas.com? Most of the other 17 municipalities with elections scheduled for March 9th, 2021.
Notice Election Qualifying Period
Even a customary Google search displays most municipalities notices already indexed. It appears Belleair refuses to be transparent even when it comes to town election information. I guess an election is easier to win without someone running against you. Or like two years ago when because only the two incumbents qualified for their Town Commission seats. Town Manager J.P. Murphy said that as a result, there is no reason to have an election.
Belleair takes the time and spends our tax dollars to mail residents. Misinformation or fake news. Saying they (Belleair) “are not in any way running the event” When in fact, the Pelican Golf Club logo was prominently displayed? On the town’s website for months. That on 10/20/20 at a Commission meeting. Commissioners issued a “Major Special Relief Permit” for the spectator free event.
Saying it was done to “ensure this event has the best interest of Belleair residents in mind.” This best interest of Belleair residents? Your joking. I saw numerous golfers, caddies, and employees mask-less and certainly not practicing social distancing. When are enough disingenuous statements and bad choices sufficient?
One thing for sure. They’ll never produce a movie called Mr. Smith Goes to Belleair” or an “It’s a Wonderful Life Belleair Version!
