Belleair’ Fl Mehlenbacher Rd Tobacco Road
Florida, on the whole, has some of the best roads in the nation as far as infrastructure. Yet for 20-plus years, Mehlenbacher Rd has never received any infrastructure or improvements. Nothing. Not as much as a street sign. Heck, Belleair won’t even sweep it!
These homeowners pay identical Belleair property tax millage rates. Equal monthly fees for trash and recycling, sewer, water, and permits, and abide by and submit to the same town regulation every other Belleair resident does.
Nevertheless, Belleair Florida’s Mehlenbacher Rd still lacks curbs, sidewalks, crosswalks, or street lights with an open stormwater culvert that moves bacteria Belleair stormwater, trash, and germs. The road’s center-line hasn’t seen painted in years, and its shoulder is missing. The road’s surface is comparable to that in Haiti. most dangerous
Most Dangerous Road in Belleair
The lack of local/county government accountability impacts home sales affects insurance rates, and ostracizes us as Belleair residents. But who cares other than us? Mehlenbacher, if not the busiest road, it will be. One of the most dangerous thoroughfares in Belleair for both vehicles and people?
I do understand concerns about Pinellas County Project ID#001976. The project will add a sidewalk on Mehlenbacher, address drainage issues along Mehlenbacher, and reconstruct the intersections with Palm Avenue and Pineland Avenue.
I’ll never understand, and honestly, I don’t care, with the state of town leadership. But, still, only 8% of residents favor road closures, and 92% are against them. So how could it end up getting closed? Shame on someone or something?
The permanent closing of Poinsettia Road could lead to lawsuits from neighboring Largo. Hopefully, residents will follow suit. Belleair, Town Manager JP Murphy said.
The most recent scheduled project, ID#001976, shows the design started: in December 2017 design ended in August/September 2020. Three years of design and a few feet of road improvements? Come on! If you are worried about a few months of inconvenience with Mehlenbacher road repairs. Don’t lose sleep over it! I’ve been hearing the same old story for nearly 20 years. The Mehlenbacher Road Project has been delayed at least six times.
I’ve spoken with the project manager for CIP 001976A – I have advised the project was to begin in June 2020 and would have been done already. When in fact, all they’ve done is change the dates on the Pinellas County website. While the town of Belleair. Make sure 1% of the 8% are smiling! So, pardon our lack of confidence.
