New Belleair Town Manager Applicants

Today at a special meeting. Belleair’s Commissioner heard from 4 applicants for the interim Town Manager position. Applicants included Robert Daniels, Lisa Hendrickson, Robert P. Kochen, and D Gay Lancaster.

Robert Daniels was the first applicant interviewed. He’s been around the block. Spending thirty years in managing operations in municipal government. He didn’t attend in person but through Zoom. He should have planned for a previous identified barking dog problem. May not be the right choice.

Lisa Hendrickson was well prepared. She had excellent credentials and seemed very sincere, with 21 years of experience in the public sector and an academic background in Public Administration. She lives in Clearwater and may be a good candidate for interim and full-time Town manager.

Robert P. Kochen, although he had good credentials. His 16-page resume and 33 years in law enforcement. It may not be what Belleair currently needs? Plus, he read his news clippings and liked to talk.

D Gay Lancaster has lived in Belleair since the ’70s. Her connections experience with Pinellas county. Responsible for the overall success of the public sector and for making top-level county decisions. It could speed things up. Didn’t mention Belleair’s 2021 Strategic Plan because she’s been aware of the issues for decades? She did reference the water problem! She may be the best choice and a valuable fit for Belleair.

Three out of the four mentioned Belleair’s 2021 Strategic Plan. A costly strategic plan to identify issues as far back as 2006 problems acknowledged by residents and documented by Belleair.
