How can elected officials restore public trust, avoid misinformation, and renew public participation?

Resourceful towns along with enterprising elected officials across the country are making local town meetings more accessible to the public. It’s not some magic bullet. It’s live-streaming and governments who aren’t afraid of transparency and accountability. It offers real-time and truthful information to citizens rapidly and economically.

To increase transparency, towns everywhere are live streaming on town websites. They are allowing citizens who are interested in the political process and unable to attend. The chance to be involved!

    Lawsuits alleging that websites violate provisions of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) have spiked in recent years.  One review of federal lawsuits estimates that over 2,000 lawsuits alleging ADA violations in websites will be filed in the United States this year, with an estimated 4% in New Jersey1.  Although these lawsuits have focused on businesses, municipalities may wind up in the crosshairs.
