My criticisms aren’t directed at the Pelican but focused on how Belleair officials handled the sale and how they continue to disappoint years after the sale. Since I have no idea what a membership goes for, I’ll say I could afford to join. Would I join, or would I pass the membership process is a different story? As things stand. Not in the cards.
That’s okay. The entire time I’ve lived on the Belleview Biltmore, I rode the course once while my boss Mr. Heisley played a round of golf. I did visit the clubhouse to visit our friend Tanya who worked there.
Nonetheless, for 21 years, we’ve respected and enjoyed our golf course backyard. And it still reminds me to be thankful for all the good things life has to offer.
Going on five years now. The Pelican project has become “It Is What It Is thing!” I confess like other residents. I was disappointed when made aware the Belleview Biltmore Golf Club sold. It was after the fact and the fool’s errand tactic that it wasn’t going to be an exclusive and very private golf club, was a foregone conclusion before the sale took place.
Jane commented on the beautiful landscaping and how lovely the course has become.
From my backyard, vantage point, the Pelican is beautiful. I can only imagine the time and money invested. The entire course is lovely. With its 60,000 sq. Ft Clubhouse, state-of-the-art Performance Center, Golf Learning Center, overnight cottages accommodations for club members. The Pelican will surely be a top-notch golf course and one of the better courses in the Tampa Bay area.
Town Commissioners approved initial plans for the removal of 863 trees, including invasive species. That’s about five trees per acre. Mr. Doyle said, “We’re bringing in 23 oaks all 40 feet or taller.”
They request a variance to plant 400 trees, including red maple and live oak trees. Which, of course, like all requests were unanimously approved by town commissioners. I only saw one or two trees planted, and one was removed?
A line from Hitchcock’s Rear Window movie goes… “I’m not much on rear window ethics.”
