Special Meeting called by Belleair Commissioners
Belleair Commissioners have unexpectedly requested an additional special meeting. To be held at Belleair Town Hall on 5/25/2022 at 3:00 PM. Speculation on the purpose of the meeting. Is it possibly, linked to the last special meeting held on April 15th when Belleair Commissioners approved long-time Town Manager Murphy’s resignation letter?
After accepting Murphy’s letter of resignation, commissioners appointed Belleair’s Chief of Police Rick Doyle as interim Town Manager.
Following their selection, residents advised Commissioners do so contradicts the Florida Constitution, which does not allow dual office holding. In effect, what Belleair Commissioners did.
Murphy’s resignation was not entirely surprising. It came after commissioners requested an outside firm oversee a review of the workplace culture.
It took Belleair Commissioners a long time to understand that Town Managers need evaluating. To meet shifting financial and operational goals. Like CEOs are assessed by their boards, the town administrator should represent the town’s vision and ideals.
