Pinellas County Mehlenbacher Project Updates
Before Pinellas County removed public records for Project ID# 001976A, updates were available on the county website. November 2018 Update Mehlenbacher Road Sidewalk Improvements – February 2019 Update Mehlenbacher Road Sidewalk and Drainage Improvements. Project overviews were similar, with construction starting in the spring of 2019 and ending spring of 2020.
In October 2019, Mr. Washburn Pinellas Public Works engineer followed up and advised project was expected to begin construction in June 2020. Finally, in March 2021, construction began.
I can’t find records of a funded Pinellas County Penny underway project not being completed. However, the county abruptly suspended it soon after starting without public notice.
On 8/21, Mr. Carpenter, a Public Works engineer, replied that the project got delayed due to budget constraints from COVID-19 and a decline in gas taxes. Saying project 001976A moved to the fiscal year 2022. Therefore, the project’s construction will start after October 2022. On 3/22, Washburn emailed Mehlenbacher Road project would be delayed “The project was previously delayed since the Town of Belleair’s water main replacement plans were on hold.”
