Why not utilize Belleair’s website to create extra revenues? By offering commercial businesses online ad banners and ink sponsorship. On Belleair’s website?

Why was the Pelican Golf Club the only commercial business on the Town of Belleair’s website? Why weren’t other commercial businesses offered to advertise their businesses? How come it was removed?

The Belleair website can easily allow for online ads (banners/inks) pages for commercial businesses. The drop-down menu for the Community section of the header. Is the perfect location for an advertising/sponsor page link? With a list of neighboring commercial businesses, sizable commercial businesses. Links would go to the commercial sponsor’s website or a Facebook page. Even an individual sponsorship page. The personal sponsorship ad would be similar to Belleair Community Foundation’s 18 sponsors.

Generating New Revenues

TownofBelleair.com certainly isn’t a traffic monster. So, commercial sponsorship needs to be cost-effective. While still boosting Belleair’s budget.

TBNweekly/TBN the free paper that litters our driveways. The one I only touch so I can throw it in the trash. TBNweekly charges $499 per month for a “Leader Bar” ad and $50 per month for a “Micro Bar” ad. Belleair Living Magazine’s ad pricing is similar.

Belleair and its website are capable of offering numerous business sponsorship ads and pricing options. One option is a monthly basic commercial sponsorship rate. These ads include business name, address, and phone number. An upgraded basic commercial sponsorship ad has a live link. To the business’s website/Facebook page. All with escalating pricing. The next option for sponsorship would be banners. They consist of large, medium, and small rectangle banner ads. With a link to their website/Facebook banner ads can include the company logo. As well as offer Billboard or Wide Skyscraper banners. With increasing ad costs depending on size. A homepage 200 × 200 banner ad. Dedicated to a business (sponsor) of the month. Much like employee of the month, it would sell out quickly.

Promoting a trusted local commercial sponsor. Perhaps one offering Belleair residents a discount or special offer. It won’t upset anyone.

Other possibilities to generate advertisement revenues. By using the monthly Utility Bill as a direct mail campaign for commercial sponsorship. By inserting a two-sided page promoting two banner sponsored businesses. On average commercial retailers spend up to $4.00 per piece for a highly targeted direct mail campaign. My guess is Belleair has a direct mail list of over 2000 and an email list of over 5000?

A local business has few economical ways to engaged local customers. However, they also realize that seeing a town website ad is good business for them and the community.

So, acquiring commercial advertisers for www.TownofBelleair.com should be a no-brainier. By offering discounts for people paying in advance. For example, pay for six months’ worth of ads, and you get a one-month discount. Pay for 12 months, and you get two months free. Finding nearby commercial advertisers will likely be a simple one-call sale.

I realize sponsorship website ad revenues won’t make up for the …six million dollars increase of our budget over the past six years. Nevertheless, it is a step in the right direction.
